Galveston, TX : Man dies in accident at transfer station on Tuesday September 27 2016

A man died Tuesday in an apparent accident at Galveston’s transfer station.
The Galveston Police Department responded to the station, 5501 Harborside Drive, at about 4:30 p.m.
Galveston police spokesman Michael Gray said the accident appeared to happen after the victim got out of his vehicle to unload trash at the transfer station.
While he was doing that, a front end loader drove into the station and ran the man over.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No charges had been filed related to the incident, Gray said. The driver of the front-end loader volunteered to be tested for drugs and alcohol
The name of the victim will not be released until his next of kin could be notified. Gray said the man was not an island resident.
The transfer station is owned by the city, but property is leased and operated by Republic Services.
A Republic Services manager at the scene on Tuesday declined to comment beyond saying the victim was not a Republic Services employee.
