Longview, WA : Motorcyclist injured in Washington Way crash on Friday, November 4, 2016

A 37-year old Longview man was hospitalized Friday after crashing his motorcycle on Washington Way.

According to Longview Fire, the man was riding on Washington Way when he lost control of his bike near the intersection of Eighth Avenue and Washington Way at about 2:15 p.m. He went flying from the motorcycle, and the bike slid another 100 to 200 feet in front of him near Wendy’s, said Eric Koreis, battalion chief at Longview Fire.

Witnesses said the man was traveling at a high speed and may have moved to dodge another vehicle that was making a legal turn, said Detective Jeremiah Johnson of the Longview Police Department.

A small fire was extinguished relatively quickly, Koreis said. The man was wearing a helmet and was conscious when medical crews arrived, but was taken to St. John Medical Center by ambulance with serious injuries.

Traffic on Washington Way was backed up for about 45 minutes as crews cleaned up oil spilled in the accident, Koreis said.
