Middletown, OH : Two dead after multi-state police search ends on I-75 in Middletown on Friday afternoon, September 12, 2014

A 17-year-old and his mother are dead after a multistate police search ended on Interstate 75 in Middletown on Friday afternoon. Terry Froman, 41, of Brookport, Illinois, allegedly shot and killed 17-year-old Michael "Eli" Mohney in his Mayfield, Kentucky, residence Friday morning before abducting the teen's 34-year-old mother, Kim Thomas, and leading police on a multistate chase that ended on the Southwest Ohio interstate, according to Graves County Coroner Philip O. McClain. The Graves County Sheriff's Department in Mayfield notified the Ohio State Highway Patrol at about 12:30 p.m. Friday to be on the lookout for a suspect in a white GMC Yukon who was wanted for homicide and abduction, according to Lt. Craig Cvetan, spokesman for the OSHP in Columbus. Police saw the vehicle heading north on I-75 south of Ohio 63, where troopers tried to initiate a stop, Cvetan said. The car continued on for about two miles before coming to a stop on the right side of the highway. Troopers then heard gunshots from inside the vehicle, Cvetan said. No shots were fired at troopers, and troopers did not fire any shots at the vehicle. Froman was taken into custody at 1:40 p.m., Cvetan said. Froman tried to commit suicide, Cvetan said, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. He was taken to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown. Police found Thomas dead in the back of the SUV, but they don't yet know her cause of death. Graves County Coroner Philip O. McClain confirmed that Mohney died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. After "signs of a struggle" in the residence, Froman allegedly abducted Mohney's mother, McClain said. Police believe Thomas was Froman's estranged girlfriend and Mohney was his son. A bloodied Thomas tried to flee at a Food Mart in Paducah, Kentucky, on Friday morning, but Froman caught her, put her in the vehicle and took off, according to AP reports. Froman then fled the scene with Thomas against her will. Early reports in Ohio came from Hamilton County dispatch of a male fleeing north near Fort Washington Way with an abducted female. Authorities were eventually able to stop the vehicle. I-75 was shut down in Warren County near Middleton in both directions following an "unusual incident," according to the Ohio Department of Transportation. The scene was later tied to the Kentucky shooting. I-75 northbound reopened at about 5:45 p.m. Mohney's autopsy is set for 8 a.m. Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky. ¦ Source : 2 dead after multi-state police search ends on I-75
