Columbus, OH : One dead, one injured in crash on Saturday, March 25th 2017

One person is dead and another critically injured after a tractor-trailer rig slammed into a car that was stopped in the middle of I-270 just north of Rt. 33 early Saturday morning.Maria Hayslip, 28, the driver of the car, died at the scene, Columbus police said. Benjamin Devries, 32, the truck driver, was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition, police reported.

Hayslip's 2013 Hyundai was stopped at 1:40 a.m. in the center lane of northbound I-270 with its lights out "for reasons still under investigation," according to a police release.

The northbound tractor-trailer struck the rear of the Hyundai, knocking the car off the right side of the roadway, where it struck a tree. The semi went ran off the ride side of the road, with the tractor and trailer separating. The tractor flipped on its side and the trailer struck a tree.
