Boston, MA : A Brockton teen was killed and two others were injured on April, Tuesday 18th 2017
A Brockton teen was killed and two others were injured when the car they were riding in flipped into a tree, according to a witness’ account.
The 15-year-old who was killed was sitting in the front passenger seat, authorities said. He was identified as Isaias Caban by the Plymouth District Attorney Tim Cruz’ office.
“He almost drove me off the road,” said Robin Gomes, who said she was driving to the store yesterday on Summer Street when the doomed car passed her. “I looked out my rearview mirror and I seen the car flip, hit the tree. It’s terrible because they go to school with my son. It’s sad that they’re so young. It’s sad that we all have to come together like this.”
The driver, a 19-year-old, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital. A 14-year-old boy who was riding in the back seat is being treated at Boston Children’s Hospital, officials said.
Prosecutors said the crash happened on Summer Street about 12:30 p.m. Emergency crews raced to the crash after witnesses called 911.
“Upon arrival, Brockton Police, Fire and emergency personnel found a 2006 Toyota Scion resting against a tree,” Cruz’s office said in a statement. “Witnesses are being interviewed and the investigation is ongoing.”
Brockton police and the state police are investigating the crash.
Several young people gathered at the crash site last night carrying candles. They held each other and cried as more people joined the huddle.
Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter told reporters the teens were leaving baseball practice when the crash happened.
