Twelve people were injured in a major early-morning crash that snarled traffic on Route 422 for the better part of two hours on Monday.

According to emergency personnel, a passenger van overturned in the eastbound lanes of the St. Gabriel’s Curve section of the busy highway around 5:30 a.m. and crews were called in to respond to a report of entrapment.

Traffic was diverted from Route 422 at Egypt Road and the westbound left lane was also blocked while crews from the Lower Providence Fire Department and King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company worked at the scene to cut the roof from the vehicle, free passengers and help administer treatment along with Lower Providence and Plymouth ambulance medics.
