Jamestown,ND : Man killed in car-horses crash identified on January, Saturday 27th 2018
The Stutsman County sheriff has identified the Jamestown man killed in a car-horses crash Saturday.
Cruz Schumacher, 24, died in the early-morning crash near Ypsilanti, said Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser.
The crash occurred at about 5 a.m. on Stutsman County County Road 38, about 1 1/2 miles west of Ypsilanti, according to a news release issued by the sheriff’s office.
The news release said Schumacher was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix west on County Road 38 when the car struck three horses standing in the road. The car left the road after striking the animals and crashed into a semitrailer parked in a private lot. Schumacher was pronounced dead at the scene. The horses were fatally injured from the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Jamestown Area Ambulance and Jamestown Rural Fire Department assisted at the scene.
