A 7-year-old Pass Christian boy was in serious condition Thursday from apparent head trauma caused in an all-terrain vehicle crash in the Timber Ridge neighborhood that killed his older brother.Abryn "Abe" Enroth was a passenger and his 13-year-old brother, Donavon Necaise, was driving when the ATV crashed early Wednesday night on Wood Street near Oakland Avenue.Donavon died in the crash, Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said."It's a loss for the entire community," Police Chief Timothy Hendricks said. "I've got children, and I can't even imagine what this family is going through."This clearly was an accident."Donavon had completed the seventh grade, and was active in sports, including baseball and basketball.Abe is enrolled in the third grade at Pass Christian Elementary School.Abe was flown to the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile. Family friends said he underwent surgery and was being moved to the USA Children's and Women's Hospital.Hendricks said Abe was listed in critical condition Wednesday night, but he improved a bit overnight and his condition was listed as serious by Thursday morning.Donavon was the second teenager to die in an ATV crash in the coastal counties since Feb. 22, when Chaz Gill, 16, apparently ran a stop sign and was hit by a truck. ATV accidents in the three-county region have claimed five lives since 2010.How the crash happened.Wednesday's crash was reported about 6:33 p.m.Hendricks said the ATV ran off the road and Donavon lost control. The ATV hit an embankment on the other side of the ditch, he said, and began to tumble. It went into a woodline, threw the boys off and came to rest.Police confirmed the boys were not wearing helmets.Donavon was a gifted student who will be remembered for his love of sports and his kindness and manners, Pass Christian School District Supervisor Beth John said.The brothers have been active members of the Boys & Girls Club in Pass Christian.Support spreadsAs news of the accident spread, so did community support.The family has a network of spiritual support from Northwood Church in Long Beach, where they attend services."We have had several praying for and standing with the family through this tragic time," Pastor Micah Butterfield said.A GoFundMe.com account, the Enroth Family Tragedy Account, had raised $3,753 in six hours Thursday. Its goal is to raise at least $20,000.Arrangements were made to bring in counselors and ministers at the Boys & Girls Club on Monday.The schools superintendent said she sent students' parents an automated phone message about the accident and the offer of help at the Boys & Girls Club."I told them if they can't wait until Monday for help, they can call the office or my home phone," John said.The school district phone number is 255-6200.Younger students looked up to Donavon, John said."Sweet, sweet boys, the both of them," she said.
