Smyrna, ME : Presque Isle woman arrested after crashing car on I-95 in Smyrna on Saturday night, August 20, 2016
A Presque Isle woman was arrested and charged with operating under the influence Saturday night after crashing her car into some trees off the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Smyrna, a Maine State Police sergeant said Sunday.
The crash happened around 8:15 p.m., when Jillian Madore, 53, lost control of her 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer while traveling north on the interstate, Sgt. Jeffrey Clark said Sunday in a news release.
The vehicle Madore was driving left the right side of the roadway, skidded down a steep embankment and then came to rest in some trees, he said.
Madore suffered only minor injuries and refused to be taken to the hospital.
Clark said that Madore had been drinking while driving and was operating on a conditional license. She was arrested at the scene and taken to Aroostook County Jail for operating under the influence of alcohol.
The vehicle sustained extensive front-end damage.
Clark said speed also appeared to be a factor in the crash. Mador is scheduled to appear in Houlton District Court on Nov. 8, he said.
State police were assisted at the scene by members of the Oakfield Fire Department and the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and emergency medical personnel from Houlton, he said.
