State police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a truck on an interstate highway in suburban Albany.
Troopers say the person was walking along the southbound shoulder of Interstate 87, also known as the Adirondack Northway, when they were hit by a tractor-trailer around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the town of Colonie (kah-luh-NEE').
The accident near Exit 2W shut down two of the three southbound lanes and caused a major traffic backup that lasted for hours. The lanes didn't reopen until around 2 a.m. Monday.
The victim's name hasn't been released.
