North Platte, NE : 29-year-old man injuries after a crash on Interstate 80 Monday morning, June 6, 2016
A 29-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash on Interstate 80 Monday morning.
About 8:10 a.m., the North Platte Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on eastbound I-80, just east of Newberry Access. A pickup crossed the interstate median and struck the fuel tank of a Werner semitrailer truck, said North Platte Fire Capt. Jeff Hankla. A Nebraska State Patrol dispatcher described the crash as “nearly head-on.”
On scene, Hankla said it was hard to identify the pickup.
The pickup driver, Marc Strawser, 29, of Denver, was ejected from the 2005 Ford F-150. A medical helicopter was called to the scene, but he was taken by ambulance to Great Plains Health, Hankla said. Strawser sustained life-threatening injuries.
The semi driver, Mario King, 26, of Homestead, Florida, was also taken to Great Plains Health, where he was treated and released, a State Patrol dispatcher said.
The dispatcher, who declined to give her name, said the accident was still under investigation.
