JANESVILLE, WI : One person dead in Janesville crash on Thursday, 21st March 2024
One person is dead after hitting a building and crashing into a utility pole Thursday night, according to the Janesville Police Department.
Around 6:39 p.m., a caller reported a silver SUV speeding to the Rock County Communications Center, and shared the license plate number. A patrol officer went to the area near North Oakhill Avenue and Linden Drive where the caller reported the driver, but did not find the vehicle.
A patrol officer who was heading southbound on North Parker Drive at Blackbridge Road said they saw a silver SUV not stop for a red light, instead accelerating southbound, weaving in and out of traffic.
The officer located the vehicle at about 7:13 p.m. and initiated a stop at West Memorial Drive and North Washington Street. The driver allegedly did not pull over, and sped away, according to JPD.
