Plaistow, NH :Pedestrian seriously hurt in crash identified as Mass. teen on Thursday, July 9th 2015
Plaistow police have identified a pedestrian who was seriously hurt when he was hit by a car Thursday night on Route 125.Police said the victim is a 15-year-old boy from Merrimac, Massachusetts. He is in critical condition at Massachusetts General Hospital, and his family is with him, police said. His identity wasn't released.
Police said the boy was crossing the road about 9:30 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle headed south. Police said it might have been difficult for the driver to see him."It hadn't quite started raining yet, but at the time it's tough, because that area isn't very well lit up," Lt. William Baldwin said.Police say it appears that the driver had a green light, and drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as contributing factors. The driver's speed is still under investigation. Police said the driver is cooperating, and charges are unlikely.Investigators didn't know who the boy was after the accident, saying he didn't have any identification on him and his cellphone was badly damaged.Police had released photos of his items in the hope that someone might recognize them.
