LUTZ, FL : A 28-year-old motorcyclist died near Lutz Lake on Sunday, December, 17th 2017

A 28-year-old motorcyclist died Sunday after she crashed near Lutz Lake Fern Road and Apian Way, Hillsborough deputies reported.

Erica Kristen Rodriguez of Wesley Chapel was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle with a small group of motorcyclists eastbound on Lutz Lake Fern Road about 9:05 a.m.

Ahead of her, Michel M. Ghobrial, 39, of Lutz was driving his family in a Toyota Corolla, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office release.

Just west of Sunlake Boulevard, Ghobrial signaled and began to turn left into a driveway to turn around, deputies reported. Rodriguez had crossed the double-yellow line, attempting to pass traffic, according to the agency, and crashed into the left side of the Toyota. She was wearing a helmet, deputies reported, but suffered critical injuries.

Responders transported Rodriguez to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

No charges are pending, Hillsborough deputies said.
