Miramar, FL: Teen couple hit, killed in Miramar while pushing disabled car on Monday, July 27th 2015

Two people are dead after being hit by a car in Miramar early Monday morning, according to police.Jonah Mosaphir, 19, and his girlfriend Gabrielle Camps, 19, were killed when they were struck by an SUV at about 1 a.m. as they pushed a disabled BMW in the 15700 block of Pembroke Road. Miramar police identified the driver that hit them as Asia Valentine, 23, of Miramar.Police said Mosaphir and Camps were pronounced dead at the scene. Valentine stayed at the scene and no charges have been filed.Mosaphir's family said he and Camps were inseparable and had been together for two years, recently starting college together."His girlfriend was always with him. Unfortunately, they're both not here now," Mosaphir's uncle, Paul Diaz said. The driver of the disabled vehicle, Giovanni Martinez, 19, was airlifted to Memorial Regional Hospital. Two others who were pushing their friend's car were identified as Justin Molina, 18, and Gregory Vasquez, 21. They were not injured.Molina's father, Raul Molina, told Local 10 News reporter MJ Acosta that his son was best friend's with Mosaphir."It was a mix of relief that he was OK, but of disbelief because I knew by what I was seeing that it wasn't good for my son's best friend," Raul Molina said. "I just want Jonah to be remembered as a very good kid. He had a heart of gold and that's the reason why he was there. He was helping somebody.""I wish he'd ignored the call, but he was the type of person that someone would call and say, 'I need battery boost,' and he would go over with the cables," Diaz said.Police said the residential area, which consists of mostly local traffic, is known to be a dangerous location because it is poorly lit.Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues said the preliminary investigation shows that Valentine swerved to attempt to avoid the crash. Rues said Valentine claimed the disabled vehicle did not have its emergency lights on, but the surviving victims told detectives that it did.Rues said it's possible that the victims' bodies were blocking the vehicle's lights before the crash.
