Galax, VA : Austinville woman died in a single-vehicle crash in Carroll County on Thursday, September 28th 2017

An Austinville woman died in a single-vehicle crash in Carroll County the morning of Sept. 28.

Virginia State Police Trooper J.D. Delp is investigating the crash that occurred last Thursday at 8:30 a.m. on U.S. 52, north of Route 785.

According to a state police report, a 2007 Dodge Nitro was traveling along 52 when it ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment. The vehicle then struck a tree, overturned and came to rest on its roof.

The driver, Pamela J. Alford, 32, died at the scene, police reported. She was wearing a seatbelt.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to Corinne N. Geller, public relations director for Virginia State Police.
