Fort Wayne, IN : Van driver critically hurt in Hadley crash on Tuesday morning, January 31, 2017

A cargo-van driver was critically injured in a one-vehicle crash on South Hadley Road this morning, Fort Wayne police said.

Police said they were called to the 200 block of South Hadley about 9:55 a.m. and found a cargo van had collided head-on into a large tree in the front yard of a home.

The driver was pinned inside the van, and firefighters worked for 45 minutes to free him while medics treated him, police said. He was taken to a local hospital.

Northbound traffic was closed for several hours from Illinois Road to just north of the crash site during the investigation, which continues, police said.
