Belmont, NC : One critically injured in Belmont crash early Friday morning on July 18, 2014
A man is in critical condition after police say he crashed his moped in Belmont early Friday morning.
According to police, a 50-year-old Scott Meeks was driving along Caldwell Farm Road and attempting to turn on to Main Street around 6:14 a.m. Friday morning.
Officers say he didn't fully make the turn, hit the curb and flipped on his moped.
He was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.
WBTV was initially told Meeks had died from his injuries, but hospital officials say he is at Caromont Regional in critical condition.
Police say Meeks was wearing a helmet, but it was not "street approved" and may be a factor in his serious injuries.
