Traffic is improving for the morning commute after a semi truck overturned on the ramp between two major interstates in Charlotte, forcing the ramp to shut down.

The truck overturned early Thursday morning on the ramp from Interstate 85 to Interstate 77 in north Charlotte.

The truck spilled its load when it overturned and there is now gravel on the road.

The accident forced traffic to build on the ramp for nearly two hours, effectively shutting the ramp down.

Just before 6 a.m., one lane of the ramp reopened to help relieve the gridlock.
