Martin County, FL : One person dead after a vehicle crashed into a pole in Palm City on Wednesday night, May 11, 2016

One person is dead after a vehicle crashed into a pole Wednesday night in Palm City, according to Martin County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Christine Christofek.

The single-vehicle crash happened in the 4100 block of Southwest Leighton Farm Avenue just south of 39th Street, according to Florida Highway Patrol. No information on the victim or how the crash happened was available Wednesday night.

Fire Rescue units responded to the crash at 10:43 p.m., according to Martin County Fire Rescue Division Chief Daniel Wouters.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
