Texarkana, AR: One driver arrested after crashing into vehicle and driving into creek on Friday 31st October 2014

Police say a Texarkana man involved in an accident was so intoxicated that he didn't want to get out of the car as officers pulled him to safety after he drove into a city creek. The incident happened just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The man reportedly drove into a creek on North Oats Street, between Preston Street and Washington Street. Police say the driver hit another vehicle before that incident and left the scene. Officers say another vehicle began following the man after he left, and by the time officers arrived on the scene, his car was caught on a drainage culvert and partially submerged in water. Police say they had to go inside the vehicle and forcefully remove the man from the car. "We were able to knock out the back glass then reach through and unlock the front door with another officer's assistance. We were able to get the keys from him, and after a few more minutes of struggling, we were able to get him out of the car," said Cpl. Les Munn with the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department. "...He did not want to get out of the car. He did not understand that he had been involved in an accident," Munn added The driver was not injured. Police say he was arrested for DWI, and other charges could be added as they continue their investigation. Source :
