Jefferson County, AL : A 53 year old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Trafford Tuesday on July 8, 2014

A car crashed off a road in Trafford Tuesday, leaving one person dead.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reports it happened about 1:00 p.m. in the 3300 block of Smith Mill Road in northern Jefferson County.

The driver of a white Ford Crown Victoria lost control of the car in a curve, and crashed into a tree.

The collision brought down a tree over the road, which was closed for a while.

The driver, a 53 year old man, was declared dead on the scene.

Only the driver was in the vehicle at the time, and no other vehicles were involved.

The identity of the driver will be made available, once family is notified.
