DIXVILLE, NH : Couple suffer injuries when ATV crashes on trail on Wednesday afternoon July 30th 2014

A couple has suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after their all-terrain vehicle rolled over on a trail in Dixville.

The new Hampshire Fish and Game Department says 53-year-old Joseph Provencher and his wife, 42-year-old Cindy, were riding on the same ATV when they crashed while trying to negotiate a rocky downhill section of the trail. The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Colebrook Fire Department Chief Brett Brooks, who was out riding his ATV, found the couple. He and his riding companions transported the Provenchers to a location where emergency personnel met them and took the Pembroke couple to a local hospital. The trail was in a wooded area about two miles from the nearest road.

An investigation is continuing. Alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash.
