INTERLOCHEN, MI : Minor injuries after Interlochen semi crash on Tuesday, 9th October 2018

Deputies ticketed a semitruck driver after he ran a red light and hit a woman driving an SUV.

Grand Traverse County sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash at the M-137 and U.S. 31 intersection in Interlochen Tuesday at about 1 p.m. They found the aftermath of a crash involving a semitruck carrying two trailers filled with gravel and a Subaru Forester, said sheriff’s Lt. Chris Barsheff.

It appears the 54-year-old truck driver from Traverse City drove eastbound on U.S. 31 when the traffic light turned red. Deputies suspect the driver did not stop and struck the Subaru — driven by a 65-year-old Traverse City woman — in the front passenger side as she drove southbound through the intersection after her traffic light turned green, Barsheff said.
