The State Highway Patrol has identified the man killed Monday when a motorcycle burst into flames on Interstate 485 Outer Loop near Johnston Road.
Richard James Clark, 58, died at the scene of the crash near Charlotte's Ballantyne area, according to the Observer’s news partner WBTV. Media outlets said Clark was from Shelby.
The wreck happened about 6:15 p.m. in the Ballantyne area of south Charlotte.Troopers say a vehicle slowed for traffic and the motorcycle did not slow down in time, causing the motorcycle to hit the vehicle and catch fire, WBTV reported.
