New Augusta, MS : One person is dead and two children were injured two vehicle crash at Highway 15 On Thursday, June 30th, 2016

One person is dead and two children have been transported to hospitals after a wreck in Perry County.

According to Public Information Officer for MHP Troop J Brent Barfield, a Perry County Beat 3 county tractor was driving northbound on Highway 15 attempting to turn onto a county road.

The tractor was turning on the crest of a hill.

While the tractor was attempting to turn, a Chrysler van driven by 58-year-old Debra Sharp crashed into the right rear end of the tractor. The sidearm of a bush hog speared into the cab of the van.

Sharp was pronounced dead on the scene by the Perry County coroner, according to Barfield.

A 6-year-old male passenger was airlifted to UMC in Jackson, and a 13-year-old passenger was transported by ambulance to Forrest General.

Both children are believed to have sustained moderate injuries.
