TEHAMA COUNTY, CA : 1 dead in head-on crash in Tehama County on Wednesday, 29h May 2024

A 24-year-old man from Corning was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon, the CHP said.

The CHP said around 4:40 p.m., the man was driving a home-built ATV eastbound on Hillcrest Drive west of Oak Park Road. Meanwhile, Maria Favela, 51, of Corning, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Hillcrest Drive west of Oak Park Road.

The driver of the ATV was speeding and cut to the inside of the curving road, directly into the path of the Chevrolet, the CHP said. The two vehicles collided head-on and the driver of the ATV was ejected.

The CHP said the driver of the ATV was transported to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital, where he died. The driver of the ATV was not wearing any safety equipment, the CHP said.
