Wheelock ,VT : Connecticut man killed after snowmobile goes off Vermont trail and collides with metal cable on Saturday evening , March 28th 2015

State police say a Connecticut man has been killed after his snowmobile went off a trail and collided with a metal cable that was strung between two trees across a driveway.

Authorities say 47-year-old Keith Whitney of New Haven was thrown from the snowmobile about 5:15 p.m. Saturday on the No. 52 trail in Wheelock.

A person riding with Whitney called 911 and emergency responders took him to a hospital, but he did not survive.

A trooper at the St. Johnsbury station could not provide more information early Sunday and said the investigation is ongoing.
