LOUISVILLE, KY : A two vehicle crash in Spencer County on Thursday, December, 7th 2017

The two people who died Thursday following a two vehicle crash in Spencer County have been identified.

The victims, Joanne Lucille Wyman, 72, and Donna Jean Root, 76, both of Michigan, were sisters, The Spencer County Coroner's Office said.

Wyman was driving the car and Root was a passenger. It happened on US 31E, just south of the Bullitt County line.

The two women were here visiting Wyman's son, according to the coroner's office.

Sheriff Buddy Stump said the crash happened on a section of the reconstructed and paved road that recently opened to traffic.
