DeLand, FL : Leesburg man is dead after a single-car crash at U.S. Highway 92 On Friday,14th October, 2016

A 7-year-old Leesburg man is dead after a single-car crash in Volusia County Friday night, Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said.

Timothy Martin was headed west on U.S. Highway 92 near Clarke Bay Road with 47-year-old Jennie Carlise, also of Leesburg, about 10:50 p.m. when he veered off the road, Montes said.

The car then struck a tree, flipped on its side and caught fire, Montes said.

Carlise was pulled from the car and taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition, Montes said. Martin died at the scene.

Troopers do not know why the car veered off the road, Montes said. The crash remains under investigation.
