A Sioux City man was injured in a rollover accident at 9:05 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 29 just north of the Missouri Valley exit.
A semi driven by Danny Loggins, 47, of Sioux City was traveling south when Loggins fell asleep and failed to negotiate the curve at the 76 mile marker of I-29, according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol. The vehicle struck the guardrail and bridge support pillars and rolled onto the driver’s side. Loggins was transported to CHI Health Missouri Valley Hospital by Missouri Valley Fire & Rescue. No information was available on his condition Friday.
The truck was pulling a tanker trailer that contained about 5,000 gallons of diesel additive, the report stated. Both the southbound and northbound lanes were closed for about two hours and a haz-mat team was called in.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Missouri Valley Fire & Rescue and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office.
