Terre Haute, IN : Vermillion residents injured in a single vehicle crash in Vigo County on Tuesday, July 26, 2016
Two Vermillion County residents received minor injuries during a single vehicle crash in Vigo County on Tuesday, police said.
According to the Indiana State Police, driver Richard E. Sheehy, 79, and his 71-year-old wife, Judith, both of Clinton, sustained minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene of the accident on Indiana 63, just north of Bolton Road.
Preliminary investigation revealed the couple’s white, 2004 GMC pickup truck was northbound on Indiana 63 and lost control on the wet pavement, authorities stated. The vehicle left the road on the east side and struck several trees before coming to rest over an embankment. The accident happened around 9:22 a.m.
Seatbelts were in use by both occupants “and undoubtedly reduced the potential for serious injuries,” police wrote in a press release.
The crash was investigated by ISP Master Trooper Jason Owen. Assisting were ISP Sergeant Joe Watts, Sugar Creek Fire/Rescue, Riley Fire/EMS, and McDonald’s Towing.
