GARDENA, TX : 2 killed in Gardena crash on Sunday, 29th December, 2019
A speeding motorist in a black Tesla ran a red light and struck a Honda Civic Sunday, killing the two occupants in that car, authorities said.
The two occupants inside the Tesla, a man and a woman, were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Officer Rosario Cervantes of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.
The crashed occurred in the area of Artesia Boulevard and Vermont Avenue. Paramedics were dispatched to the location at 12:39 a.m., according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.
The man driving the black Tesla exited off the westbound Gardena (91) Freeway at a high rate of speed and ran a red light, striking the Honda Civic, Cervantes said.
The man and woman inside the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office. He was 40-years-old; she was 39. Their names have not been released.
