Binghamton, N.Y : Van Etten pedestrian killed in a fatal crash on Sunday, February 5, 2017

Police have identified the victim in a fatal car-pedestrian accident that occurred Sunday in Van Etten.

Terri A. Gallow, 60, of Van Etten, was fatally struck by a vehicle operated by Glenn E. Doty, 58, of Erin, at the intersection of state Route 224 and Langford Creek Road, according to the Chemung County Sheriff's Office.

Initial investigation revealed Doty's vehicle was traveling north on Route 224 at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday when it struck Gallow at the intersection, police said. The Chemung County medical examiner's investigator pronounced Gallow dead at the scene.

Doty remained on scene following the accident, police said. The sheriff's office confirmed Doty had not been charged with a crime as of Monday evening. Investigation into the accident is ongoing, police said.

State Route 224 was blocked off for several hours while members of the sheriff's office criminal investigation division and accident reconstruction team conducted the investigation.

The Van Etten Fire Department, Greater Valley EMS, and the Chemung County Medical Examiner's Office assisted sheriff's deputies.
