Byron, MN : 20-year-old driver dead in a crash on Monday morning while he was driving rear-ended a trailer being pulled by a pickup on September 15th 2014
The driver killed in a crash this morning on U.S. 14 near Byron has been identified as a 20-year-old Dodge Center man.
Troy Andrew Sahr was eastbound when the 2002 Honda Civic he was driving rear-ended a trailer being pulled by a pickup. The pickup was driven by William Bardwell, 70, of Stewartville.
The crash, which was reported at 10:09 a.m., occurred near the intersection of U.S. 14 and Seventh Street Northwest as Bardwell was slowing to make a left turn.
Sahr was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys campus in Rochester, where he died.
Bardwell suffered no apparent injuries.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol. The airbag in Sahr's car deployed. Troopers closed the eastbound lanes of U.S. 14 for nearly three hours while they investigated the crash.
