Longview,TX : 2 arrested after stolen vehicle crashed in Gregg County on January, Friday 26th 2018
Two people were arrested Friday after Texas Department of Public Safety troopers said they tried to evade officers.
Troopers noticed a vehicle traveling north Friday afternoon in Gregg County that had been reported stolen. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver evaded the troopers, according to DPS spokeswoman Jean Dark.
After leading a trooper to Tryon Road and U.S. 259, the driver crashed into another vehicle.
Two people then fled, one brandishing a firearm, Dark said. Troopers chased the pair until they were apprehended.
Two stolen weapons and about $1,300 in stolen property were recovered, Dark said.
The driver, 16, was taken to the Gregg County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with felony evading, theft of property, theft of a firearm and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
The passenger was taken to the Gregg County Jail and charged with evading on foot, theft of a firearm, tampering with evidence and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Neither suspect's identity was released.
