Several people were injured Wednesday after being involved in a car crash south of Dunnellon.

Jacob Michael Penn, 18, of Citrus Springs was driving a blue Nissan Sentra north on U.S. 41, approaching County Road 488 in the left-turn lane, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Penn was traveling with Jesse Stuart Tanis, 23, of Citrus Springs, and 24-year-old David Cannella, of Crystal River.

Andrew Michael Stocker, 22, of Dunnellon, was driving a white Ford F-350 pickup truck south on U.S. 41, approaching the same turning with C.R. 488.

Penn tried to turn left onto C.R. 488, but drove into the path of Stocker’s truck, which collided with the front of Penn’s car and then into a guardrail, according to FHP.

Penn received non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Tanis received non-incapacitating injuries and was transported by ambulance to Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center.

Cannella, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was airlifted to Ocala Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Penn was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic, according to FHP.
