Two dead in Wednesday morning's Springfield crash

Two people have died after a two-car crash in Robertson County earlier Wednesday morning, the Tennessee Highway Patrol said.

THP authorities said Madison resident Antonio Crawford and Springfield resident Ventrell Blakemore were both killed after the car Crawford drove veered into another lane and stuck a tractor trailer head on at state Highway 49 near Draughon Road.

Blakemore was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash happened, according to a preliminary report.
Authorities were called to the scene around 5:22 a.m. Wednesday after the accident was reported. Alcohol and drugs were found at the scene, but investigators have not yet determined whether either had a factor in the incident.
The driver of the tractor trailer was also injured from the wreck, the report said.
