MENTOR, OH : Person in custody in connection with hit-and-run crash on Sunday, 24th June 2018

Mentor police have a person in custody in connection with an early morning hit-and-run crash that killed one of its officers.The individual is currently being questioned, city spokesman Ante Logarusic said in an email.

The person in custody has not been charged, officials told WKYC.

Mentor police have not yet publicly identified the officer killed in the crash. The identity of the officer, as well as the suspect, will be released at an 11 a.m. Monday press conference, Logarusic said.

Additional details about the crash will also be given at the news conference, Logarusic said. No further information about the crash would be given Sunday.
