A 67-year-old man, Richard Corgain, of Eugene, was killed Saturday night after the car he was driving ran off the road on Highway 126E east of Springfield. Oregon State Police responded to the single-vehicle accident at 7:53 p.m. Saturday. Police said Corgain was driving westbound on Highway 126E in a 1993 Chevy Cavalier and ran off the road and ultimately hit a tree. Authorities said they didn't know why his car left the road. Corgain was extracted from the car by emergency responders and transported by ambulance to Riverbend Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Corgain was wearing a seatbelt, police said. Speed may have been a factor in the accident, authorities said.
