Burlington, VT : Cassandra Viens, 20, died in a car crash in St. Albans Town early Wednesday morning, September 21, 2016

A woman was killed in a car crash early Wednesday morning in St. Albans Town, police said.

Cassandra Viens, 20, of St. Albans died in the crash on Bronson Road. The driver of the car, Ryan Wooster, 20, of Georgia, suffered severe injuries.

Officers found the vehicle had been traveling south on Bronson Road shortly after 2 a.m. when it left the shoulder of the roadway, rolled over, then vaulted to its resting position off the road, according to a news release. The crash caused severe damage to the vehicle.

Police said Viens was wearing a seat belt, but incorrectly. Wooster was not wearing a seat belt.

Police suspect alcohol and marijuana impairment were factors in the crash and expect citations to be issued. The investigation is ongoing, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Albans police at 802-524-2166.
