Upper Dublin, Pennsylvania
A Norristown man died March 3, a day after being involved in a one-vehicle accident at Girard and Beechwood avenues in North Hills, police reported.
Derrick Bundy, 42, of Norristown, and a passenger in his vehicle, Roshonda Garland, 39, of Ambler, were seriously injured after Bundy’s vehicle struck a tree around 1:45 p.m. March 2, trapping the two inside, police said.
Bundy was northbound on Girard at a high rate of speed when he failed to perceive the dead end of Girard, where it intersects with Beechwood, and his vehicle struck a tree directly in its path, police said. There were no signs of braking or any maneuver to avoid the tree, police said.
Both Bundy and Garland had to be extricated by the fire department, and both were transported by Second Alarmer’s to Abington Memorial Hospital, police said.
Bundy was pronounced dead at the hospital the next day as a result of injuries he suffered in the crash, police said.
Open containers of alcohol were found in the vehicle and an investigation is continuing, police said.
