STATEN ISLAND, NY : NYPD car crashes onto sidewalk, 3 injured in wreck on Saturday, 24th September 2016
Three people were injured in a car crash Saturday that involved an NYPD vehicle and civilian-driven SUV in Stapleton.
At approximately 5:06 p.m., emergency units arrived on the scene of a car collision near Vanderbilt and Osgood Avenues, according to an FDNY spokesman.
The spokesman confirmed one motorist suffered minor injuries during the incident and was transported to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze.
NYPD officials on scene said two officers inside the police vehicle were also transported to an area hospital, both with minor injuries.
The police car could be seen hanging off the sidewalk, near the intersection of Vanderbilt and Osgood, with it's front-right tire ripped from the axle.
The civilian's Camry suffered significant damage to its front-end, as the bumper could be seen detached from the front of the vehicle.
It remains unclear what caused the wreck at this time.
