A 30-year-old man died early Sunday following a two-vehicle crash on East Livingston Avenue near Bexley.
Columbus police were called to the intersection of East Livingston Avenue and South Cassingham Road at about 2:30 a.m. after two vehicles collided.
Allen M. Gordon, 39, is accused of traveling left-of-center and striking the victim's vehicle head-on, police said. Gordon was heading westbound.
The victim, driving eastbound, was pronounced dead at the scene about 10 minutes later. His identity is still being withheld while family members are notified.
Gordon was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center for treatment. His condition wasn't immediately available and a nursing supervisor at the hospital said she couldn't release any information Sunday afternoon.
This is the sixth traffic fatality in the city of Columbus in 2017.
East Livingston Avenue was closed in both directions between Euclaire and Montrose avenues for about four hours early Sunday while officers from the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit examined the scene.
One vehicle sustained heavy damage and ended up on the sidewalk on the south side of the street. A wheel separated from the vehicle and was resting in the middle of the street as police guarded the area.
The other vehicle sustained significant front-end damage and was left in the intersection with its airbags deployed.
