Huntersville ,NC : Interstate 77 closed after tractor trailer hit a box truck near Gilead Road on Thursday morning ,June 4th 2015

Part of Interstate 77 in Huntersville was closed Wednesday night into Thursday morning after two accidents involving multiple vehicles, including several tractor trailers, happened in the same area. The interstate was reopened by 7 a.m. Thursday.

A tractor trailer hit a box truck on I-77 near Gilead Road. After crews cleared the accident and reopened the roadway, around 11 p.m. in the same location, another accident happened involving two tractor trailers.

Officials say the tractor-trailer was heading southbound in I-77 when it struck a car, a tractor-trailer and an SUV that were slowed due to construction in the area. Exit 23 was closed for hours as crews worked to clear the scene.

A witness at the scene said one person was transported by Medic. Officials have not released an update on injuries.
