LOVELAND, CO : Eight people were hospitalized in a car crash on Friday, July 7, 2017
Eight people were hospitalized Friday in a car crash on U.S. 34 and Thompson Parkway on the east edge of Loveland.
According to those at the scene, the crash occurred when a recreational vehicle was struck by a sport utility vehicle traveling west on the highway. By the amount of debris at the impact site, the westbound vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed.
A press release from Loveland Police Department public information officer Sgt. Jeff Pyle said the RV driven by 27-year-old Indiana resident Richard Lake turned in front of a white Hyundai driven by a Loveland woman.
The conditions of those who were taken to the hospital were not released by Loveland Police, which had its technical crash investigation team at the scene. The LPD release said westbound traffic was detoured around the crash via Larimer County Road 3 to Crossroads Boulevard; long backups were reported, and businesses on the south side of U.S. 34 reported that some customers with scheduled appointments were unable to make them.
