Martin County, FL : Sheriff’s deputy and another driver injured after a high-speed collision in Sewall’s Point early Sunday morning, May 1, 2016
A sheriff’s deputy and another driver were taken to hospital after a high-speed collision early Sunday morning in Sewall’s Point, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said.
In a post on its Facebook page, the sheriff’s office said the deputy was heading south on North Sewall’s Point Road when a motorist traveling northbound “at a high rate of speed” crossed into the southbound lane.
The deputy attempted to drive onto the curb to avoid a head-on collision, but could not get out of the way.
The sheriff’s office said the motorist attempted to flee the scene and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The deputy was taken to hospital for observation but was expected to be released this morning.
