Volusia County, FL : Police officer, deputy injured in separate motorcycle crashes on Tuesday, 6th November 2018
he Florida Highway Patrol is investigating separate accidents involving law enforcement officers on motorcycles on Tuesday in Volusia County.
An Ormond Beach police officer on a motorcycle suffered non-life threatening injuries Tuesday when he collided with a truck, according to police.
Officer Jeremy Goss, 38, was on his way to a call with his lights activated. He hit a pickup truck while trying to pass a pickup truck that was trying to turn left.
It happened just before 1 p.m. on South Ridgewood Avenue and Rogers Park Drive. The pickup truck driver, George Kasper, 69, of Ormond Beach was not hurt.
The other crash happened about 45 minutes before on Interstate 4 at mile marker 111.
Volusia County Sheriff’s deputy Timothy Wheeler and Charles Zook, 79, of Deltona, were driving east on I-4 when they collided as they were trying to get into the center lane.
Wheeler suffered road rash but is is expected to be OK. Zook was not injured.
The Florida Highway Patrol continue to investigate both crashes.
