Naples, FL : One person killed and two others injured in a crash on Interstate 75 in Collier County on Wednesday, Nov 25, 2015
One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash on a stretch of Interstate 75 known as Alligator Alley.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a car was traveling in the northbound lanes of I-75 in Collier County, about 14 miles west of Broward County, when a box truck rear-ended it, sending the car off the highway.
A view from Sky 10 showed that the car struck a utility pole, which was protruding from the driver's side. The body of the driver was covered by a sheet next to the mangled car.
There was a City Furniture truck resting on its side in the middle of the highway.
A sport utility vehicle with rear damage was stopped in a ditch between the northbound and southbound lanes.
The FHP said two people in the truck were taken to a Naples hospital.
Another person was injured in a nearby crash in the southbound lanes. A view from Sky 10 showed that the car crashed into a fence.
Northbound traffic was backed up for about 3 miles because of the crash.
I-75 is a north-south highway, but Alligator Alley connects southwest Florida to South Florida.
