KINGSLAND, GA : Three injured in Camden school bus accident on Thursday, February 16th 2017

Three people were injured Thurday morning in a three-vehicle accident involving a Camden County school bus.

The bus driver, Robert Parrish, 74, of Kingsland, was cited by authorities for following too closely.

A Georgia State Patrol spokesman said Parrish told investigators he was distracted by noises made by children on the bus when the accident occurred at 7:40 a.m.

The bus struck a 2011 Toyota Camry driven by Ellen Howard, 45, of Kingsland, as she waited to turn from Harrietts Bluff Road onto the ramp leading to southbound Interstate 95, according to reports. Howard’s car struck a 2014 Honda Odyessy in front of her vehicle also waiting to turn onto the ramp, investigators said.

The driver of the Honda, Jessica Turner, 40, of Woodbine, was not injured, police said.

Howard and a passenger, 8-year-old Jaleah Howard, were both taken to a St. Marys hospital for treatment of their injuries. It’s unclear if the two are related, police said.

One of the students on the school bus, Ryan Outlaw, 8, also complained of undisclosed injuries, investigators said.

Camden County school officials did not return a call Thursday for comment.
